We are a family run business which I started in 1993, after moving to the Lower Mainland from Manitoba. At first, it was just a hobby of mine, canning and pickling preserves for my own use and selling at Craft Fairs from Thanksgiving through Christmas. In 1997 my son, daughter-in-law and grand-daughter moved to the Lower Mainland as the pickled garlic sales increased to where I could no longer keep up with the demand.
We now produce numerous pickled and home preserved products, using family home recipes that have been handed down through the generations. All of our vegetable products are peeled and inspected by hand as we feel there is not a mechanical device in the marketplace that would be suitable. In order to ensure that our products meet health standards they are laboratory tested and produced in a government approved kitchen.
We attend Craft Shows and Farmers Markets such as Whistler and Ladner all year. It is surprising how many adults and children do not eat raw vegetables until they try our pickled products, creating the motto: You will want to keep the lid on these, once tried the guests and kids won’t leave them alone. Our products have been shipped all over North America, to customers who tell us they are not able to find any product that resembles ours in taste and crispness.
Our recipes will continue to be kept secret and passed down from generation to generation. We now have three generations working in this family business with no outside help. The fourth generation, the great grandkids, even help with the recycling.
